From Darkness to Divine Fellowship

Good morning, brothers and sisters. I like the sound of that and I hope you do too. It is Jesus Christ who makes this possible. Regardless of color, ethnicity, education, or anything else that makes us unique, the Bible reminds us of who we are because of Him. As it is written, “there is no longer any distinction… but Christ is all, Christ is in all” (Colossians 3:11, GNBUK). What a bold and beautiful statement. In Christ, we are brought into His own family.
As Christians, everything about us has changed. We now carry a new identity and a new citizenship. Scripture tells us that “He rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safe into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13, GNBUK). This is not symbolic it is a real transition. We have been translated from darkness into light, from uncertainty into belonging, from separation into divine fellowship.
Yet, even with this new identity, we still encounter challenges things that are common to humanity. There are moments that test us, moments that press us, moments that try to blur our understanding of who we are. But brothers and sisters, it is in those very moments that we must stand firm in the knowledge of who we are and whom we have become in Jesus Christ. We must remind ourselves that there is a power at work within us the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. That power is not distant; it is present, active, and life-giving. It quickens us, strengthens us, and continually draws us back to the truth of God’s love and His instruction. As we steward time in the Word of God and in prayer, we remain grounded and aligned with that power.
Jesus knew we would face such moments, and so He gave us something the world could never offer. He said, “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you… Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid” (John 14:27, GNBUK). This is not a fragile or temporary peace it is His peace. A peace that remains steady even when circumstances are not. A peace that anchors the heart when everything around us feels uncertain.
And we are not left to navigate life on our own. Jesus also assured us of the Helper the Holy Spirit who would come alongside us. “The Helper… will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you” (John 14:26, GNBUK). What a profound gift. The Holy Spirit actively teaches, guides, reminds, and strengthens us. He brings clarity when we are confused, comfort when we are troubled, and conviction when we need direction.
We truly have every reason to be at peace, to be comforted, and not to be overwhelmed. Our lives are held, guided, and sustained by God Himself. And so we pray that God will help us grasp the reality of this marvelous provision the peace that surpasses all understanding. As Scripture says, “God's peace… will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7, GNBUK).
May this peace guard your heart today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
