Your Sunday Is Coming: Trusting God in the Middle of Your Story

When Jesus was crucified, His disciples were devastated. Even though He had prepared them, told them what was coming, they still didn’t expect it to feel so final. Their hopes were buried with Him. All they could see was the darkness of a sealed tomb. It must have felt like the end of the story.

But God wasn’t finished.

Even in the silence, even in the grief, God was still working. Because that’s who He is—a Promise Keeper, faithful even when we struggle to believe.

Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy 2:13:

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.” (NIV)

And the book of Numbers makes it clear:

“God is not human, that He should lie… Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?”— Numbers 23:19 (NIV)

Unlike us, God never falters or forgets. His word is unshakable.

Jesus had told them plainly:

“The Son of Man must suffer many things… be killed, and after three days rise again.” — Mark 8:31 (NIV)

And just as He said, He rose.

No one else in history has predicted their own death and resurrection—then walked out of the grave. But Jesus wasn’t just another man. He was—and is—God in the flesh, full of grace and truth.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14 (KJV)

Through the prophet Isaiah, God said:

“My word… shall not return unto Me void… it shall accomplish that which I please.” — Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

That’s the kind of God we serve. A God who speaks life into dead places, who doesn’t break promises, and who shows up right on time—even if we don’t see it yet.

So if you’re walking through a hard chapter, one that feels unresolved or uncertain, take heart. You may be in the middle of the story—but your Sunday is coming.

Cling to this:

“…by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” — Hebrews 6:18 (KJV)

God’s Word still speaks. Open it. Ask Him to show you what He’s promised you. Pray those promises back to Him. He’s not finished writing your story.

And as you wait, remember this gentle reassurance:

“And the LORD, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” — Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

Yes, Friday may feel like a crushing loss, and Saturday may seem long and silent—but Sunday always comes.

And when it does, resurrection breaks through.

I pray today that you come to know the heart of God more deeply. That His Word becomes your steady anchor, your guiding light. And that you receive fresh grace and truth—through Jesus, the Risen One.

Amen.
